I am a USA Cycling Official. (well sort of... waiting for the official paperwork in the mail). We spent the whole day today in training and testing for this.

New Bike

My wife just got a new bike from 2wd (we made them stay 1hr late to help us). She did not want a road bike and needed something new vs her 1993 Diamondback MTN bike. This bike looks really cool, flat brown paint with black wheels and a flat bar. Specialized Sirrus........ I now get to play tennis... if she is going to ride with me I need to play tennis with her. Yes, this is exciting for me to have her ride with me (maybe club FAB) and I get to improve my tennis skills.

Another wheel option?

Still waitng for Steve Hed to get back to me regarding the best choice for me between the HED wheels. But now another option: The Roval Fusee Star Wheelset ($700), The local guys will give me a deal on this, about 25% off MSRP, plus wheel bags, tubes and whatever tires I want. Available in two colors. Odd looking and the design I am not sure of, but a lifetime replacement and repair warranty. They do weight about 250g more than my current wheel set, but get the wider rim of 21mm vs. my 19mm rim.

Although the HED wheels are 23mm wide, price for HED is $800

Back to the USA

Lance is heading back, 29th place and 49 seconds off the winner, he is heading back to california to train. (maybe with the muscle, who will be there to watch). Check out these crazy sunglasses, custom as i can not find them anywhere. (picture courtesy of Graham Watson)

Yes, lance has been tested a few time already since landing in Adelaide on Monday.

Some athletes have been tested 3x in one day, it appears to be very random at all times of the day. Twice while lance was on twitter the doping people arrived for some testing.

The Hawkeyes finished at #20 for the year, plus the only Big Ten team to win a bowl game.

Spinning

Last night we had our "first" organized spinning class. Jeff at 2wd was nice enough to set this up. He even let me arrive early to lift on thier nice homegyms before we did our 1hour interval training session. I hope this continues with more days of spinning together..

Yes I missed the SNS ride on newyears day, but the alternative was to miss the Iowa game.. The only big ten team to win a bowl game... I did watch it with some fellow FAB members though..

My goal for 2009 is to post here at least once a week, but the major goal is to drop 40+ pounds and improve my riding skills.

I am starting to train with the Wii as well...
